Biotech Start-Up in City Launches First Product Range
AEKA BIOCHEMICALS PVT. LTD., the first biotech and biochemical start-up in Kerala wholly owned by women, launched its first range of products on Friday, 9th October 2015. The Sasya range of microbial plant growth promoters from Aeka was launched by Shri. Kris Gopalakrishnan, co-founder of Infosys.
Eminent personalities including Shri. C. Balagopal (IAS, founder of Terumo Penpol), Shri. Joy Oommen (IAS, CMD of Kerala Financial Corporation), Shri. G. Vijayaraghavan (founder of Technopark), Shri. Nandakumar (founder of Suntec Business Solutions), and Shri. M. R. Narayanan (co-founder of Transmatic Systems and Floatels India Pvt. Ltd) were also present.
Some of the top scientists of the state including Dr. Oommen V. Oommen (Chairman, Kerala Biodiversity Board), Dr. V. P. Potty (Principal Scientist (Retd.), CTCRI and CEPC Lab), Dr. P. G. Latha (Director, JNTBGRI), Dr. Ajit Haridas (Head, PEET, NIIST) and Dr. Rajeev Sukumaran (Sr. Scientist, NIIST) graced the occasion.

Green Category ICE permit from the Kerala Pollution Control Board
Aeka Biochemicals Pvt. Ltd. was granted the Green Category ICE permit from the Kerala Pollution Control Board in August 2015. In the heart of the city, Aeka’s Vazhuthacaud facility is optimised so as to be fully eco-friendly, pollutant-free, and a green, zero-effluent zone.
